Lucerne Carnival Costume - Sphynx Cat
Gabriela
13/03/2024
I purchased and succesfully folded your Sphinx Cat Mask –the YouTube-Tutorial was very helpful. Used 230g cardstock: took a while to fold and glue… but turned out very stable at the end. Pink-metallic acrylic spray paint and extra layers of transparent acrylic spray made the mask waterproof. Glued in some foam material at the inside of the mask for good fit.
Got a lot of compliments for your mask-design (told people that it’s your design, or at least I tried to yell it to people, maybe there was some advertising 😊 – Lucerne Carnival is very loud) and the best feedback ever: lots of smiling children when they saw “your” cat! It was fun making and it was fun wearing your mask. Your mask, materialized at Lucerne Carnival 2024… Picture attached of myself in full costume, at day-time so the chain of lights on the jumper is almost not visible.

SERVICES FOR COMPANIES AND ARTISTS

THE ORIGIN OF THE MASKS
Its use dates back to the Ancient Ages

The egyptians, greeks and romans were linked with animals and their natural environment, recognizing the threats that were around: storms, wild animals, or spirits, so that the masks were used as protective shields.

Nowadays, that feeling of masking for protective purposes has dissapeared, but it is still innate in us to want to personify other animals forces, other movie scenarios or another parallel world to the one we live every day.
